Last night whilst doing the dreaded weekly food shop I spotted this cute little tin in the tea section.
Available from Sainsbury's and The Rare Tea Co. |
Intrigued I had to have a closer look and found that it was a bespoke blend made by the Rare Tea Company to mark last years 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
The label says: Loose leaf tea made by traditional methods. This is tea as it used to be.Calming in times of National peril, fortifying when courage is required. When only the best will do.
This sounded convincing and I felt I had to give it a try. It's a little expensive at £4.50 for 50g but as 7% of the price goes to the RAF Association Wings Appeal and to support the RAF museum I though it was for a good cause.
Small problem, though it was only when I got home I realised I don't own a teapot!! Gasp!! So I am off to the Charity shops to hopeful find a small teapot and maybe just a few other things too... well its all for a good cause!

Best excuse for a charity shop trip I've ever heard!
ReplyDeleteI bought my Dad some of this tea for christmas, it's really nice.
I've heard about this tea and wondered what it was like, I might have to give it a go.
ReplyDeleteThere's also a video I came across a few days ago on youtube about the launch party for the tea:

Ooo I want! I could then cover my jumper with all my RAF sweetheart brooches, and sip at a grand cuppa whilst watching air force themed films- heaven! Tups
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful label! If only I drank tea...
ReplyDeleteHope you've brought your teapot by now! Definately a great way to give to a worthwhile charity - I'll look out for it when I'm next at Sainsbury's.
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely, and although maybe a little expensive you donated to charity, got a fabbylous re-useable tin AND I be the tea is better than any tea bag. No teapot?? Shocking!! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the comment on my jumper Wendy, I hope you get a teapot soon! :)
ReplyDeleteOh no! One must have a teapot! Tea is so much more enjoyable drunk from a little pot, even if you're still using teabags.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you don't have any luck with your local charity shop, make a visit to the Backyard Market off Brick Lane - there's a stall there with a wonderful selection of vintage teasets, of varying ages and prices. I struggled for ages, narrowing it down to choose just one!
I hope you found a teapot! I remember buying a tea cosy a couple of years ago and then realising I hadn't anything for it to keep warm. xxx
ReplyDeleteLove that tea tin- I'm a sucker for a good tin, me! Charity shops are great for finding teapots and if you feel like knitting a cosy for it (or finding someone who will) you might like my free Union Jack pattern on Ravelry:
